Alexandra works as research associate and PhD candidate at the university of Bayreuth examining biogeographical patterns in conservation science. Currently she investigates large-scale patterns of fragmentation within and around protected areas (PAs) in Europe. In a second project she researches the link between topographic diversity and climate change within terrestrial PAs worldwide. Her goal is to contribute to a better understanding of the changes awaiting PAs in the future. This knowledge will give way to an early onset recognition and potential improvement of PA management and design, capable of adapting to rapid global change.
