Mirela Beloiu SchwenkeResearch Associate
At Department of Biogeography until 01/2022
I'm fascinated by forest dynamics and spatial patterns of tree species. 34% of the world's conifers are endangered on the IUCN Red List. Therefore, the protection of tree species is necessary for the conservation of their genetic diversity.
During her Ph.D. studies, Mirela is investigating the impacts of climate change on the spatial distribution and spatial patterns of tree species, how they respond to drought events, and what ecological adaptations help them cope with forest disturbances.
