DESCRIPTION:Dear PhD-students and young researchers\,\n\nWe are excited to 
 announce the first 'PhD-Conference on Earth System \nScience' taking place
  on March 12–14\, 2014 at the Max Planck Institute \nfor Biogeochemistry i
 n Jena.\n\nThe conference will cover all major domains of Earth system sci
 ence\, \nincluding biosphere\, hydrosphere\, atmosphere and pedosphere. It
  will \ngive you the possibility to present and discuss your research with
  the \nnext generation of Earth system scientists. We aim for diversity in
  both \nthe methods you apply and the scales of your research. So we welco
 me \ncontributions ranging from molecular analysis to computer simulations
  \nand from soil aggregates to global analyses. Meeting your peers in this
  \ninterdisciplinary context will give you the opportunity to obtain \ncon
 structive feedback for your work and provide you with new \ninspirations f
 or your career development.\n\nThe social dimension of Earth system scienc
 e and global change will be \ncovered in a dedicated evening talk by Ander
 s Levermann (PIK): \n'Excitement for the good of society: science between 
 mitigation of and \nadaptation to future climate change.'\n\nThe conferenc
 e will provide ample room for further interaction and \ninformal meetings
