DESCRIPTION:The European Climate Change Adaptation Conference 2013 is an i
nitiative of a number of major European research projects. This will be t
he first European conference which covers the broad range of issues relat
ed to climate change adaptation and follows international conferences in
Australia (Gold Coast\, Queensland) in 2010 and in the United States (Tuc
son\, Arizona) in 2012. This conference will place a greater emphasis on
understanding and assessing adaptation in action under the theme integrat
ing climate into action.\nEuropean research supported strongly through the
various EU Framework Programmes has played a leadership role in furtheri
ng the understanding of climate impacts\, vulnerability and adaptation an
d will contribute significantly to the IPCC's 5th Assessment Report (AR5)
as it did successfully for the AR4. Policymakers at European\, national
and local levels have been acting on climate adaptation over the past dec
ade\, and with greater urgency in the past few years. European business\,
NGOs and citizens have become engaged in action on adaptation\, seeking
to integrate climate change into strategies and decisions. International
linkages through trade\, global policy regimes\, development assistance
and humanitarian aid also influence European vulnerability and adaptive a
 ction.\nLink to the conference page.
